The "eco-friendly" operation of the iPhone has made many users realize that there are many types of cell phone charging heads, but when there are many types, it is easy to make a difficult choice, how fast can the dazzling charger sets bring the iPhone charging speed? MSH has just launched this PD33W GaN charger and fast charging cable, which is a collection of all the features of charger sets on the market, so let's use it to talk about charging.
The first thing I want to introduce is the most conspicuous label of 33W GaN charger - GaN, which is a semiconductor material that has appeared frequently in public view only in recent years. This allows the charging head to maintain the original power while reducing the internal components to achieve a smaller size. We actually measured the PD33W GaN charger, its size is about 35.7mm*32.0mm*52.3mm, which is actually close to Apple's classic 5v1A charging head, and the PD33W GaN charger also has three different pins: British/US/European standard, and its compact size makes it more convenient to carry. The weight of this PD33W GaN charger is 48g, which is very light in the hand, and it doesn't feel heavy when you carry it around, which are the advantages of GaN.
In terms of design, this PD33W GaN charger is made of matte and mirror plastic, with a certain vertical stripe on the matte side, which can play a certain anti-slip effect and make it more convenient to plug and unplug the charging head, the overall effect is still quite simple.
With this fast charging cable is made of braided material, this design can make the wire more resistant to pulling, for the iPhone charging cable common interface bending damage, this fast charging cable also did a reinforcement protection treatment, this point to give praise.
One thing to note is that due to the limitation of charging protocol, the interface of this PD33W Gallium Nitride charger is Type-C port, so the A-port cable included with the old version of iPhone cannot be used. So this part of the user is recommended to buy a C-port cable or directly together with Taipower's fast charging cable.
For the actual charging, we chose iPhone 13 Pro Max for the test, starting from 1% about to shut down, using this PD33W gallium nitride charger + this fast charging cable for charging. The test results show that the entire charge took exactly 2 hours, specifically at each point of the charge, with the phone at a higher power before 80%, and thereafter shifting to a trickle charge to protect the battery. The test results are similar to those of our previous tests with the same level of charging head and even Apple's own laptop charging head, which is a regular fast charging speed.
It is worth mentioning that although Apple has not officially advertised the true fast charging power of the iPhone, according to our previous actual tests, the iPhone was able to reach a higher power than the 18W previously included with the iPhone 11Pro series. so when the iPhone 13 series continues to use this 18W charging head it does not reach the actual peak power. For this reason, we also tested the charging power of Taipower PD33W GaN charger. Under the low power of iPhone (20%), we measured the actual output power of 22W, which is also the peak power of iPhone charging we measured before.
The overall test shows that the performance of this PD33W GaN charger is quite good. In terms of charging power, it just meets the peak charging power of iPhone, and can charge the phone with the highest power. At the same time, due to the existence of GaN material, the volume control of the whole charging head is quite excellent.
